All,

Just noticed the location listed for Place of Birth is actually in Florida, Please leave this for a few days so folks in the G2G feed can see it. I will fix it after a short time.

In answer to private message "can someone please check to see what comes up when you click on the location icon next to place of birth? Apparently it's not correct. I just want to verify this before I fix all the others (yes, there's more than one profile involved. "

We've noticed before that Google maps has no clue where Plymouth Colony is. Although one of them is Plymouth Rock. I don't see the reference to Florida, just the handful in Massachusetts and one in Connecticut. Why would we expect Google maps to know where Plymouth Colony was since it hasn't existed in 300+ years.

The place Plymouth Colony is correct, please don't change it.

Anne, Not sure what to do here. There are several hundred profiles involved according to WikiTree+, that when you click on the location icon next to the place name, it goes to Hollywood, Florida. I've checked out about 15 profiles and they are all the same. But when I use the icons next to the place names in the edit screen, they are correct. I realize Plymouth Colony is correct, but maybe these were created before the date ranges were listed/created.

When I click on the map link it takes me to my own neighborhood and says, "Google Maps can't find Plymouth Colony." I do know at one point it would take you to an apartment complex called Plymouth Colony. As Anne says, please do NOT change the location as it is correct. Perhaps you can find a way to open a discussion with Google Maps to get their side of it fixed.

Edited to add: I went to the data field for the birth, edited so that the drop-down menu appeared, chose Plymouth Colony with a correct date range, and it allowed me to save. No change in the map pointer.

i think since this involves Wikitree +, maybe this is a question for Aleš

That's really interesting because when I clicked on the pointers while in the edit screen, they went to the correct location... Getting curiouser and curiouser.... And the Hollywood Florida I mentioned earlier is about 20 miles from me.

Mary and Mercy Prence are two different people. Half-sisters.

Why are we calling this one, who is Mercy who m. Freenman, by the name of her sister Mary, who m. Tracy?

Can we simplify her name down to plain-old Mercy? The current construct is awkward, repetitive, and also wrong. Right?

Note that, AFAIK, Mary Prence's mother is Mary Collier (not Prence's other wife Mary Burr the widow Howes) hence her given name. While Mercy Prence is da. Patience Brewster; whose parents favored classy/godfearing Puritan names like Wrestling, Love, Patience and Fear. Given grandma Patience was still alive in 1631 when Mercy was born, she would have approved!

Prence-179 and Prence-5 appear to represent the same person because: Same names, dates, spouse, some children.

The "AKA Watson" should be removed from the top of this profile! [done]

As is noted in the "Children" section (and Merrick (2014) Brewster GSMD volume 24), the Watson connection is only through Mercy's son John Freeman (Jr.), whose second wife ("Mary (?Hedge) Watson" according to Merrick (2014)) was previously married to Elkanah Watson. Mercy (Prence) Freeman was NOT 'also known as' Watson.

Prence-5 and Prence-177 appear to represent the same person because: These two ARE ready to be merged. All changes have been made and information matches.

There is no evidence She married Elkanah Watson . He married Mary Hodges. I removed him from this profile. According to Family Search.

I think I now see why you rejected these merges. Bradford and Sparrow were proposed to go into an Unknown. But somewhere in there Unknown got erroneously merged into this Prence. That was not the intent. So unless we can document that this Prence was she who married both Watson and Freeman, we need to merge her into an unknown. And in either case, we still need to merge away Bradford and Sparrow into either Unknown or Prence once we've confirmed which was the Mercy who m Watson and Freeman. Yikes.
posted by Jillaine Smith
Sally, do we have evidence that this Prence daughter was she who married 1) Elkanah Watson and 2) John Freeman?

Also: Note that a merge you recently rejected was attempting to merge away a bad theory for a Bradford maiden name of the wife Mercy. Your own notes on this profile support a Mercy being wife of both Watson and Freeman. We're trying to merge away the bad dupes. That said we need to confirm Prence as the right maiden name. (Hedge and Hodges have also been put forth.) Thanks!
