Joseph Preston was born on 31 Jan 1831^[1] in Sackville Reach, New South Wales, Australia as the first child of Joseph Preston and Hannah O'Donnell. He had eleven siblings, namely: Anne Nancy, Margaret, Eleanor (Ellen), Hannah, Mary, Thomas, John, George, William, Frances Elizabeth, and James. He died on 10 Jan 1910^[2] in Inverell, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 18, he married Frances Bailey, daughter of John Bailey and Elizabeth Prosser, on 10 Apr 1849^[3] in Portland, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 21, he married Elizabeth Jurd, daughter of Daniel James Jurd and Elizabeth Douglas, on 17 May 1852^[4] in Pitt Town, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 26, he married Elizabeth Susannah Cross, daughter of David Cross and Charlotte Elizabeth Johnson, on 12 May 1857^[5] in Hawkesbury, New South Wales, Australia.
