Biography

Thomas David Priestly is born on June 24, 1886 in Forster, New South Wales, Australia. The birth is registered in Taree. Forster is on the coast about 300 kilometres northeast of Sydney and Taree is 38 kilometres further north. Thomas’ parents are Thomas Priestly (1844-1885) and Sarah Ann Blanch (1843-1919).

In 1911 Thomas marries Ella Louisa Phillips (1891-1966) in Chatsworth. Chatsworth is on the coast 517 kilometres by road north of Newcastle.

Thomas dies on September 20, 1923 at the age of 37. One source shows him dieing in Goulburn which is 195 kilometres southwest of Sydney. Another source has him dieing in Pindimar, which is 75 kilometres north of Newcastle. (The actual death registration is Goulburn.) He is buried in the Tea Gardens Cemetery. Tea Cardens is 77 kilometres by road north of Newcastle. Ella marries his brother, Charles, three years later. But when Ella dies in 1966 she is buried with Thomas.
