John Pringle was baptised on 11 May 1731, son of William Pringle (~1712 - ) and Mary (Trumbo) Pringle (1712 - ).[1][2]

His brother was Samuel Pringle (~1728 - ~1830).

John married Rebecca Simpson (1753 - 1825) Their daughter was Sarah (Pringle) Watkins (~1787 - ~1873).

Rebecca Simpson, was the sister of trapper and hunter John Simpson.

John is purported to be one of the two Pringle brothers (with Samuel) associated with the Pringle Tree near today's Buckhannon, West Virginia.

John was a pioneer of Louisville, Jefferson Co, KY. Probably died in Henry County, KY, given 1819 deed (see research notes and sources).

John is presumed to have died in 1819 in Henry, Kentucky, United States aged ~88.

DAR estimates birthdate of "ante 1750" due to unproven birthdates of children older than Sarah, whose age is based off of her marriage record (KY Marr 1785-1979, Jefferson Co, Deed Bk Q p 81, Sarah Pringle and Isaac Watkins, with both John and Rebecca giving consent).[4]
