Biography
Annie Hickson was born in 1861. She passed away in 1901.
Annie grew up in the Concord area of Sumter Co., S. C., the daughter of a physician of that area. The home place of Dr. Judson Pringle was on the swamp side of current-day Brewington Road, between Shaw's Crossroad and Concord Presbyterian Church. She and Bartow Shaw had 3 children, the youngest (a girl, Annie), dying before age 6 months, in 1897. And mother Annie would die four years later at age 40.
Her mother was born in Barnwell Co., S. C.; but she was a resident of Micanopy, Fla. when she and Dr. Pringle married.
A brief obituary: "Mrs. Annie Pringle Shaw, wife of E. Bartow Shaw, of Concord, died at 10 o'clock Monday night after several weeks illness. The funeral services were held at Concord Church at 11 o'clock this morning."
"Mrs. Shaw was the daughter of Dr. W. J. Pringle, of this city, and her death brings grief not only to the household of her dear relatives, but to the many friends she had in this city and elsewhere."
