Biography

Francis Charles Prowse was born on April 3, 1874 in Brackley Point Road, Prince Edward Island and was baptized on August 4, 1874 at the Cornwall United Church.[1] He was the son of John Prowse and Hannah Harper. Charles grew up on the family farm.

On November 4, 1896, Charles married Ida Richards.[2] They had two children, Benjamin and Murial. In 1901, Charles, Ida and their first child, Benjamin, were living in Charlottetown. The family eventually settled in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, where Charles worked as a blacksmith.[3] Charles's cousin, Jarvis Prowse who was married to Ida's sister, Emma, also settled in Glace Bay, where Jarvis worked as a tinsmith.

Charles died on December 23, 1960 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.[3]
