Cecil Axford Prowse was born on January 1, 1882[1] in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island and was baptized on May 11, 1882.[2] He was the son of Isaac Prowse and Elizabeth Beck. Cecil's mother died when he was about 7 years old. He was then raised by his step-mother (and aunt), Louisa.
Cecil became a teacher in 1899.[3] Around 1902, Cecil moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.[1] Beginning around 1906, he worked as a manager of a tug and barge company.[1]
On December 16, 1916, Cecil married Janie Davidson in Vancouver.[4]. They had at least two children, a daughter, May,[5] and a son, Cecil.[6]
Cecil died at the age of 84, on April 26, 1966.[1]
