Biography

Angela Pulizzi is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Giuseppe Pulizzi and Brigitta Paternostro, based on her own marriage records. Possibly, her mother's surname is "Palazzo," and her parents married in 1775.^[1] No matching marriage record has been found for Brigitta Paternostro. Cascio-10 21:53, 8 September 2017 (EDT)

Based on her reported age in the 1834 stato delle anime, a Church census, Angela is born around 1780.

Angela marries at least twice, first to Francesco Zumbardo (also rendered "Zampardo" and "Zimbardo"), son of the late Salvatore Zampardo and the living Angela Paternostro, on 9 April 1796.^[2]

Angela and Francesco have at least one child, Salvatore (c. 1798), named after his paternal grandfather.

Angela remarries to Biagio Sciortino (“Sciorttino”), son of the late Leoluca Sciortino and Giuseppa Ciavarello, on 22 July 1809. Her father has died by this time.^[3]

Biagio and Angela have at least five children: Giuseppa (c. 1812), Francesco (c. 1814), Leoluca (c. 1816), Giuseppe (c. 1818), and Lucia (c. 1819).

I estimate Giuseppa is born around 1812, based on her reported age at the birth of one of her children. She is named after her paternal grandmother.

Francesco is born around 1814, based on his reported age in the 1834 stato delle anime, a Church census. He is named after his mother's first husband.

Leoluca is born around 1816, based on his reported age in the 1834 census. He is named after his paternal grandfather.

Giuseppe is born around 1818, based on his reported age in the 1834 census. He is named after his maternal grandfather.

Salvatore marries Biagia Gariffo on 30 May 1819.^[4]

Lucia is born around 1819-20, based on her reported ages in 1834 and at the births of two of her children.

Giuseppa marries Gioachino Vintaloro, a widower, on 10 February 1828.^[5]

In the 1834 Church census, Biagio Sciortino, 52 (b. 1781), wife Angela, 53 (b. 1780), and children Francesco, 19 (b. 1814), Leoluca, 17 (b. 1816), Giuseppe, 15 (b. 1818), and Lucia, 14 (b. 1819) live on the strada di San Michele Arcangelo.^[6]

Leoluca marries Lucia Paternostro on 13 October 1839.^[7]

Giuseppe marries at least twice, first to Orsola Paternostro. He remarries to Lucia Provensano on 10 April 1842.^[8]

Lucia marries Liborio Cascio on 5 February 1843. Her parents are both still living.^[9]

Death

Angela dies at the reported age of 85 in Corleone on 18 November 1860. She is predeceased by her late husbands Francesco Zumbardo and Biagio Sciortino and her parents.^[10]
