Barbara Carol Rimer of Vancouver, Washington passed away December 17, 2008 in Vancouver. Barbara was born March 29, 1933 in Spokane, Washington to Edgar Claude and Sara Jean Quackenbush. In 1948 and 1949 Barbara spent her summers working fire-watch on Meadow Butte and Steamboat for Gifford Pinchot National Forest. She graduated from high school in Trout Lake, Washington in 1951 and earned a teaching degree from Walla Walla College in 1965.
Barbara taught third and fourth grades at Harney Elementary in Vancouver beginning in 1965 until her retirement.
George "Bud" Rimer and Barbara were married April 6, 1970 in Dillon, South Carolina. Barbara was dearly loved by her husband, sisters, nieces, nephews, step-daughter, grandsons and students and will be missed by all.
Barbara is survived by her husband, George; six sisters: Shirley Smith of College Place, Washington; Rose Ann Jaksha of White Salmon, Washington; Claudia Brown of Carson, Washington; Merlynn Simmons of Yakima, Washington; Darla Lehman of Winlock, Washington and Sharon Hires of Mead, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Debra Hernandez of Longmont, Colorado; and three step-grandsons.
