Asher was the son of John Racher and Edith Titmouse. He was their youngest child. Asher's mother Edith passed away some time in 1848. His father remarried Mary Anne Burns, who was his wife's caretaker.
The family was found in the 1861 Census in County of Wentworth, Beverly Township.[1]The household was enumerated as follows:
John Racher Yeoman, England, 54
Ann Racher, Ireland, 37
George Racher, CW, 27
John Racher, CW, 23
Ashur Racher, CW, 15;
Peter, CW, 9
Rachel, CW, 7
Elisabeth, CW, 5
Sarah, CW, 3
Margaret, CW, 2
At age 25, he married the 18 year old Mary Bradley (Broadley) on 08 Oct 1870. She was the daughter of Joseph Bradley (Broadley) and Alice Bogg.[2]The record is in error in regards to his mother's name (Ada and John Racher) so it would not be surprising if Bradley were misspelled as well. The lore in the family is stated that the elder children changed the spelling of the surname to Rachar and their fathers second wife's children kept Racher. Sounds like a family rift occurred.
The family was found in the1891 Canada Census in Kincardine, Ontario in the household of the Fergusons. Achur was a Farm Labour Worker.[4]The household was enumerated as follows:
Ferguson, Thomas
Ferguson, Elizabeth
Ferguson, Andrew
Rachar, Achar, M, 47, M, Ontario, Ireland, Ireland, Farm Labourer
Rachar, Mary, F, 36, M, Ontario, Ireland, Ireland, Ch of Eng.

Asher passed away in 1909 and was interred in the Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada. The spelling of his first name and his surname and his age are not seeming to be accurate, however, it is the correct person and correct wife on memorial stone with him.[5]
