Helen was born in 1775. She was the daughter of Alexander Ralston and Janet Huie. [1]

She married David Ralston in 1800 [2]

The farmed at Cristlach, Southend. [3]

They had the following children:

  1. Robert Ralston 1802–1890
  2. Alexander Ralston 1808–1892
  3. Margaret Caldwell Ralston 1811–1899
  4. David Ralston 1823–1886

After her husband died in 1841, Nellie came to the US in 1842 on the "Gleaner". [4].

She traveled with her youngest son David, her daughter Margaret and her husband John Caldwell, and his mother Elizabeth Howie. [5]

They settled at Harlem, Illinois and were among the first families at the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois. [6]

Helen passed away in 1855.
