Biography

Son of Archibald Ramsay and Eliza Desbrisay. He married Emma Caldwell, daughter of James, in 1887.^[1]

In the sudden death of Mr Theiphilus D. Ramsay at his home in Summerside on May 24th Summerside has lost an honoured and highly esteemed citizen. Mr Ramsay had not felt very well last Saturday but was much better at the beginning of the week and was about as usual...His very sudden demise is a terrible shock to his wife and son, Vernon of Campbellton, NB who arrived home on Wednesday evening.

The late Mr Ramsay was the son of Archibald Ramsay of Lot 16. He came to Summerside when 19 years of age and entered the employ of Sinclair and Stewart's founders of the present firm. His genial disposition and splendid business ability won for him the esteem of his employers and when Mr Neil Sinclair retired he became a partner in the firm. At the time of his death he was vice president of the firm.

There are left to mourn a devoted husband and father, his widow, formerly Emily Collwell and his son Vernon, also one sister, Miss Elizabeth Ramsay of Montreal and two brothers, John of Gleichen, Alberta and William of Charlottetown. Rev. Mr Archibald of Bedeque is a nephew of the deceased.^[2]
