Biography
Lady Mary Ramsay, daughter of George Ramsay, 8th Earl of Dalhousie and Elizabeth Glen was born on 21 June and baptised on 27 June 1780 in the parish of Cockpen, Midlothian [1][2]
Mary married James Hay on 18 Apr 1801 in the parish of Edinburgh, Midlothian. [3][2]
The couple reputedly had 12 children including:
- Helen Hay (born Tiverton, Devon 7 June 1806)[4]
- Ann Hay (born Tiverton, Devon 24 January 1807)[5]
- Mary Hay (born Tiverton, Devon 3 September 1807)[6]
- Georgiana Christian Hay (born Tiverton, Devon 4 April 1810)[7]
- Caroline Ramsay Hay (baptised Cockpen, Midlothian 5 October 1820).[8]
Mary died on 1 Apr 1866 in Linden Lodge, Lasswade, Midlothian aged 85.[9][10]
