Robert Randolph was born before 20 December 1760,[1] in North Carolina. He is the son of James Randolph Sr.
On 20 December 1781, his father James Randolph of Caswell County, North Carolina, entered into indentures with his sons James, Robert, Abram, and William, selling or giving each of them land in Caswell County:[2][3][4][5]
James Randolph of CC to Robert Randolph (his son) of CC, for 100 lbs, 90 acres in CC, on Country Line Cr, bounded as follows: adj James Randolph Jun'r, on the main road. Ann Smith, William Ragsdale. Wit.: A'd Murphy, H. Harralson, Benj'n Debow.
Robert is named in his father James Randolph Sr's Will executed 15 June 1797 in Caswell County, North Carolina.[6]

Disputed Mother
Mary Dye is not the mother of James, Jr, Robert, William or Abraham Randolph. She married their father in 1881, the same year he was deeding these sons land.
Margaret Smalley isn't their mother either. Who is she? This researcher hasn't located a single document, source, or even circumstantial evidence for her existence.
