Biography

Mary was born in 1602. She was the daughter of Richard Ravens and Elizabeth Hedge. She was baptized on 14 November 1602 in Wattisfield, Suffolk, England.[1]

She was married to John Coolidge in England, probably by 1630. They emigrated to New England by 1635, settling in Watertown, Massachusetts. Children recorded from their marriage are:[2]

  1. John, born about 1630 in England
  2. Simon, born about 1632, probably in England
  3. Nathaniel, born about 1636, probably in Watertown
  4. Mary, born in Watertown on 14 October 1637
  5. Stephen, born in Watertown on 28 October 1639
  6. Obadiah, born in Watertown on 16 October 1642
  7. Jonathan, born in Watertown on 10 March 1645 (1645/6?)

Bond listed Elizabeth, who married Gilbert Crackbone, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in June 1656, as an additional, questionable child.[3] Anderson states that this is an error. Although she is called "Elizabeth Coolidge" in the marriage record, she was not a daughter of John Coolidge, but was in fact the widow of John Cooley of Ipswich, Massachusetts. On 6 July 1665 "Goodwife Crackbone, relict & administratrix of John Cooly" was mentioned in a deed.[4]

Mary (Ravens) Coolidge died at Watertown, Massachusetts, on 22 August 1691. The inscription on her gravestone states that she was "aged 88 years." Her husband had died in May of that same year.[5][6]

Mary Coolidge is buried in Plot 146 in the Old Burying Place, Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.[7]

Ravens-16 and Ravens-48 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death info.

I'm OKing this merge, but please make sure that the mother's profiles are merged before this one is merged.

Ravens is her LNAB.

Coolidge-450 and Ravens-16 appear to represent the same person because: It looks like these two are one in the same by comparing date of birth and mother's name.
