Thank you for letting me know that I posted the wrong deed. Lindsey is still not the child of John and Rutha. They have a daughter not a son. The deed that I meant to cite specifically states "to my daughter Lansea Jane".

I will make he correction in the deed citation. Sharon

The land record referred to in the profile, [see: Pike County, Kentucky, "Deeds, v. I, B-1, J (1871 - 1891)," v. J, p. 485, Rubin Ray and others, 21 November 1874; digital images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSTL-FP1M?i=612&cat=111955 : accessed 23 January 2020); citing Pike County Courthouse, Pikeville, Kentucky records microfilmed on 28 September 1970 by The Genealogical Society of Salt Lake City, Utah; FHL microfilm 839,460, item 3, image 613 of 694.] is for the heirs of John Watson RAY, Jr. not John Watson RAY, Sr. Per date on the record of 21 November 1874. John Watson RAY, Jr. died about 10 November 1874.

Ray-6858 and Ray-3552 appear to represent the same person because: Same Date of birth, same death, same wife. NOTE: the land record referred to in Ray-6858 that states name of heir as Lansea Jane RAY as heir of John W. RAY, refers to the heirs of the brother of Ray-3552. John W. RAY, Sr. died in 1842, his estate would not have been still being parceled out in 1874. Rather, John W. RAY, Jr. died on or about 10 November 1874 it seems more likely that this deed listed as occurring on 21 November 1874 would have pertained to the estate of John W. RAY, Jr. instead of his father.
