Notes

EARL J. HITT[6]:

The following was copied from the database of Earl J. Hitt in WorldConnect (no longer existent):

1 October 1771. John Rector and Catherine his wife of Leeds Parish to Jacob Rector of same, 157 acres. (Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 4, p. 304[7]) Is this not the Jacob Rector, son of John and Catherine Rector who died 1779 in Bedford County, Virginia, was married to Jane, and left a will there?

24 July 1797. Harmon Hitt appoints Benjamin Hitt and Samuel Hitt his attorneys to divide his property among his children, namely, John Hitt, Elizabeth Rector, Peter Hitt or his heirs, Jesse Hitt, Mary Ayres, Sally Hitt, Martin Hitt, Benjamin Hitt, Daniel Hitt, and Samuel Hitt. (Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 13, p. 432[8])

June Court, 1795. Elizabeth Rector is appointed administratrix of Jacob Rector, decd., with Benjamin Hitt and Charles Ayres as her security. (Fauquier County, Virginia Minute Book 1793-1795, p. 391[9])

26 October 1795. The inventory of Jacob Rector, decd., handed in, the appraisal having been made by William Turley, Joseph Jeffers, and Henry Rector. (Fauquier County, Virginia Will Book 2, p. 382-383[10]).

12 April 1806. Hezekiah Glascock and Sally his wife and Ludwell Rector and Molly his wife to Thomas Rector, son of Elizabeth Rector, the land now occupied by the said Thomas. (Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 16, p. 490[11])

22 September 1816. Vincent Rector and Artemisia his wife and Joseph McMorris and Winifred his wife, the first of Loudon Co., the second of Fauquier, to Thomas Rector of Fauquier, Vincent's and Winifred's 2/7 of the land of Jacob Rector, decd., but retaining their interest in the widow's dower. (Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 22, p. 289[12])

A deed from Jacob's heirs, dated 14 July 1818 after the death of their mother, lists the children (heirs) of Jacob and Elizabeth as follows: Joseph Rector and Eliza L. his wife, Thomas Rector, Joseph Miller and Susannah his wife, George Miller and Mary Ann his wife, Vincent Rector and Artemisia his wife, William Triplett and Dorcas his wife, and Joseph McMorris and Winifred his wife. - (I have looked for this and have not found it. The mother Elizabeth didn't die until 1832 so it seems off. Anyone have the exact source?)

Jeffrey Phillips[13]: Fauquier County, Virginia Land Deed Book 33, page 373, October 12, 1832[14]. Deed between William Triplett and Dorcas his wife, heirs and legal representatives of Jacob Rector, dec;d of the county of Fauquier and State of Virginia of the one part and Vincent Rector and Artimis his wife heirs and legal representatives of Jacob Rector, Dec'd of the County of Fauquier and State of Virginia of the second part and Thomas Rector of the county and state aforesaid. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:

Believe James Rector and Susannah (Rector) Miller are linked to wrong parents, Jacob and Elizabeth were not old enough to be parents at the time of their births.
