Nancy Rector, a daughter of John and Anna Catharina (Fishback) Rector, was born about 1737 and died after 1799. She married George Thomas McElwain Jr. about 1752. George, a son of George Thomas and Margaret (Thompson) McElwain, was born about 1720 in Cumberland County PA and died in VA before 1799. Nancy was living in Franklin County, VA in 1799, and gave permission for daughter Sarah to marry. "I Certifie that my Dauter Sarah is of full age and that I have Consented that shee may join in marriage with Charles Vinson given under my hand this 22nd of April 1799 Nancy McWain."

"Your note about Jonathan Fine's marriage to Hannah Rector made me curious if Hannah was related to Nancy Rector who was mother in law of Vinet Fine. Recall that Vinet Fine married Effa McElwane (McElwain) daughter of Nancy Rector and George? McElwane. The McElwanes were from the part of VA that became WV- eventually Braxton WV. Nancy Rector McElwane was in Rockingham (Augusta) VA by 1781 and moved to Franklin VA by 1794. Rector-1188 and Rector-26 appear to represent the same person because: Exact dates, same spouse and child
I see no evidence for the parents of this Nancy Rector. She isn't mentioned in the will of John Rector, who didn't live in Pennsylvania. She should probably be detached.

Rector-485 and Rector-26 appear to represent the same person because: These are clearly the same person. Rector-485 has a false brother and a sort-of correct mother, linked to the correct grandfather.
