WILLIAM6 REED (JONATHAN5, JACOB4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2 READE, COLONEL, THOMAS1) was born Abt. 1730 in Salem Ma.4, and died Abt. 1790 in Naskeag Maine. He married MERCY TUTTLE April 25, 1749 in Falmouth Maine, daughter of JAMES TUTTLE. She was born Abt. 1731 in Ramsey-Ipswich Ma.4, and died 1800 in Brooklin Me.4.

William Reed settled in N. Yarmouth about 1750, and in 1760 settled at Naskeag #4 He served as a Captain in the Revolution and is an ancestor for SAR and DAR. He was a first a lieutenant and then he was a Captain when called out for service in Machias in 1777 by Colonel Jonathan Buck (founder of Bucksport, Maine, He married Mercy Tuttle in Falmouth in 1749, and they had the following children:

  • ii. JACOB REED, b. 1755; d. 1802, at sea.

  • v. ABRAHAM REED, b. October 24, 1759; d. May 21, 1841.
  • vi. MARY REED, b. Abt. 1760; m. LEMUEL SMITH, LT. CMDR..

Reed-29637 and Reed-19503 appear to represent the same person because: I am baffled that this merge has been rejected once already. Every detail of these two profiles are identical and we need to get rid of this duplicate.
