Research Notes
Original Information
A review of Names of Foreigners Who Took the Oath of Allegiance to the Province and State of Pennsylvania, 1727-1775, with the Foreign Arrivals, 1786-1808 shows that only the adult males were listed as qualified to take the oath of allegiance to Pennsylvania.[1]
Accordingly, the only two members of the Reimel family that appear in this list are Hans Georg Reimel Sr., and his oldest son Jacob Reimel. The Reimels appear in the list of foreigners who arrived on ship Virtuous Grace, John Bull, Master, from Rotterdam.[1] This source says they were qualified September 24, 1737, but it's not clear if that was also when the ship arrived, or it it was a later date. The name that appear that matches a known family member is:
Obviously the surnames were spelled differently, establishing a pattern that continued long after their arrival in Pennsylvania.
Another similar source, Index to the names of 30,000 immigrants--German, Swiss, Dutch and French--into Pennsylvania, 1727-1776, lists both father and son once again. the advantage to this source is that it refers to the people on board the Virtuous Grace as Palatines.[2]

This listing is for his father of the same name. The Hans Georg Reimel of this profile traveled to America with his father and his older brother Jacob when he was only 10 years old.
