William Remy (spelling varies) was born on the 16th of January in 1744/1745 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. This date of birth and location along with the allegation that William is the son of Daniel Remy may be found in various printed and online family histories; although these compilations do not provide further sources, the reasoning by some is that Daniel is the most likely candidate for William's father amongst the Remy men of Westmoreland County in the mid-1740s. (Note that William also named a son Daniel and a daughter Dorcas, possibly after proposed mother Dorcas Brickey Remy.) Likewise, William's date of death being the 16th of May 1816 is also seemingly without source beyond repeating information from family trees, but its specific nature is worth noting.
According to the "International Marriage Records" database on Ancestry.com, William Remy married Eleanor McCarty on the 4th of March in 1768 at Westmoreland County, Virginia..[1] However, this database is created from a range of sources, including family trees that may be created oiut of speculation or error, and while the exactness of a marriage date is promising, it and the surname of "McCarty" for wife Eleanor is not currently backed by any other known source, Perhaps autosomal DNA segment mapping and triangulation will eventually lead to a strong connection to a likely line representing Eleanor's family, but the amount intermarriage of the time period and location will require some caution in sorting such data.
William's will references his wife Eleanor and nine children, seven of whom he describes as living in Floyd County, Kentucky:

A tenth child, Owen is said to have died with is wife and one child in 1816. Owen's relationship to William is based on William's daughter Eleanor taking in his surviving children.[4]
