BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES
GEORGE E. REPPERT, farmer, Section 14, P. O. Valley Falls, is a native of Pennsylvania, and was born in Greene County, February 21, 1837. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1856, his father, George A. Reppert, being among the very first settlers and farm-openers, in this portion of the county. He was a strong Free-state man of decided opinions, and it is needless to state he had difficulties to contend with. He did not live but a short time after coming to the Sate, not being able to stand the hardships. His death occurred in Leavenworth County. His wife, Mrs. Ann Reppert, died a few year ago. The subject of this sketch has been a continuous resident and has contributed amply towards the development of the county. He was married in Kansas to Miss Isabelle Pettit. They have seven children--Frank, Kate, Louis, Annie, Bennie, Mabel, Roy.

George E. Reppert Dead.George E. Reppert of Valley Falls, ex-commissioner and one of the most substantial citizens of this county, died on an eastbound Santa Fe train near Dodge
City Monday morning. The body was taken from the train at Dodge City and prepared for burial and accompanied by Mrs. Reppert reached Valley Falls Tuesday morning. Funeral
services, conducted by the Rev. A.L. Day of the M.E. church, were held at the Reppert home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, the service at the grave being in charge of the A.O.U.W. Mr. Reppert, accompanied by his wife, left Valley Falls on July 5th for a visit with two of their children, stopping
first at Denver with his son, Ben. After a week's stay in Denver, they journeyed to Glendora, California, to visit their daughter, Mrs. Anna Ginter. They left California the
latter part of last week, and Monday morning found them in Western Kansas aboard the Santa Fe. While in his berth, Mr. Reppert was experiencing some trouble in getting his
breath, due to heart trouble with which he had suffered for some time. He go up and went to the smoker and the porter came to make up his berth, but Mrs. REPPERT told him to
leave it, as Mr. Reppert would probably be back in a few minutes to occupy it. Just before reaching Dodge City he got up from his seat, presumably with the intention of
going to the sleeper, and without uttering a word, fell-over dead. --
