He passed away January 16, 1932 at the age of 30, leaving a young wife (Hazel Bodenhamer Rhoden and two young children, Lawrence “Rocky” Rhoden/3 years and Helen Rhoden 6 mos). He was described as small in stature but the “strongest man in Baker County. My grandmother (Hazel) said that she was told he died after lifting another man over his head in a show of strength. She further said that he was dead with no apparent injury when his friends delivered him home. His death certificate sites “heart problems.”[2]
