JOHANNES AND CATHERINA RICKERT

Johannes RICKERT was the very first child recorded in the church baptismal records in Schoharie, New York. He fought in the American Revolution and was in Vrooman's Regiment. He was promoted to Sergeant and was noted for his bravery. "John" helped to construct the Stone Dutch Reformed Church in Schoharie which was used as a fort during the Revolutionary War and which is used today as a museum.

Two RICKERT brothers, Georg and Conrad, moved from Schoharie County to Center Brunswick, Rensselaer County, to the town of Minden in Montgomery County, and finally on to Putnam, Washington County, New York. The year 1825 in Putnam is the last date we find both brothers together.

Johannes "John" RICKERT married 14 June 1748, Margaretha "Catherina" JUNG [YOUNG],[3] in the Schoharie Reformed Church in Schoharie County, New York. Catherina was the daughter of Henry JUNG. Both John and Catherina are buried in the Fulton Cemetery in Schoharie County, New York.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Johannes by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Johannes:
