Recent Y-chromosome DNA tests have proven that the Somerset County, Pennsylvania and the Northampton County, Pennsylvania branches of Ritter's are two distinct and different families. ^[2]

Born in 1695. He passed away in 1760. There is a Michael Casper Hittek Ritter, born 1695 in Zweibruken, Palatinate, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and died in Somerset Pennsylvania in 1760. His father is listed as Casper Ritter born in 1675 in Germany and died 1760 Pennsylvania. His mother is listed as Otilia Hertzin born in 1675. Not sure if this is the same Casper Ritter.
