Paul Rivet, son of Elias Rivet and Magdeleine Lambert, was born on 29 June 1827 in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, United States. He was baptized on 22 February 1829 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Plattenville. His godparents were Ursin Landry and Carmelite Francoise -?-. Paul's twin sister Pauline was baptised at the same time.[1]
During the 1830 census, he was probably counted in his father's household as a child under the age of five.[2]
The family has not yet been found in the 1840 census.
In 1850, at the age of about 20 years, he lived in the household of his brother Marcelin's widow, in Assumption Parish.[3]
Paul married Velleda LeBlanc, daughter of Paul Pharon LeBlanc and Coralie Landry, on 14 February 1854 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish. Witnesses were Elmire Foutle', Firmin Blanchard, Elie Rivet, and Emile Gourdault.[4][5]
He was widowed a few months later, in October of 1854.[6]
He married second, on 23 February 1857, to Marceline Eulalie Moralez, daughter of Andre Moralez and Jeanette Cavaliero. The marriage was recorded at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Paincourtville, Assumption Parish. Witnesses were Edouard Breaux, Manuel Domingues, Elouiza Esteve, Ufemi Domingue, and Seraphine Esteve.[7]
They had 15 known children:
Paul and Marceline were enumerated on the 1860 census in Donaldsonville. His occupation was Cooper.[8]
He died at age 78 on 24 October 1905 in Assumption Parish.[9]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Paul by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Paul:
