Biography

Jehiel Robbins was born March 30, 1742 in Wethersfield, CT to John and Sarah Goodrich Robbins. [1] His first wife was named Rebecca. Jehiel and Rebecca lived in Lanesborough, Massachusetts, from at least 1766 when their son Edward was born [2] to 1768 when his father died and named Jehiel in his will. [3] Jehiel and his family were living in Ballston, N.Y. (about 60 miles from Lanesborough) by 1789. A home near Ballston has bricks marked "Jehiel Robbins 1789." [4] [5] Rebecca died in 1791. [6] Along with his brother Zebulon, sister Lois, and her husband, Jehiel signed a quitclaim deed in March, 1795 for land left to their sister, Sarah, by their father. [7] Jehiel married a woman named Sarah shortly before he died in 1795. According to Find-a-grave Jehiel died in New Hampshire, [8] . but his estate was probated in New York. His widow Sarah was appointed administrator of his estate, but she requested that someone be appointed in her place. [9]
