Biography
Thomas Roberts was the son of Morris Roberts and Unity Martin. He first married Jean Glen on 20 Jun 1791 Lincoln, North Carolina. Thomas and Jean Roberts had the following children:
- Mary Roberts Moore
- Morris Roberts
- Rebecca Roberts Carroll Hambright
- Elizabeth Roberts Martin
- Susan Roberts Wilson
He married second Elizabeth Unknown around 1806. Thomas and Elizabeth Roberts had the following children:
- Martin C Roberts
- Jacob C Roberts
- Step Roberts
- William C Roberts
- Lincey Branch Roberts Jackson
After Thomas Roberts died in 1840, his second wife Elizabeth sued the children of his first wife for her dower rights. All of the children of Thomas that he had with both wives are specifically named as his heirs and their relationship to Thomas was stated as follows:
"...he left the following children viz: Morris Roberts, Elizabeth Martin, Rebecca Hamright, Susan Wilson, Elizabeth married to Josiah Martin & Susan married #### James (crossed out) Rebecca married James Hamright, Mary Roberts married George Moore, ??? Roberts, Martin C. Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Step Roberts, William Roberts & Lincy B Roberts who married Abernathy Jackson."[1]
