Biography

Edward was born about 1733 in Virginia to John Robinson and Tabitha Jones. [1] He was married to Judith whose maiden name is unknown. They were the parents of eight known children. These children were Stephen, John, Edward Jr, Mary, Jonas, Josiah, Jones, and Field. [2]

On 16 February 1776 Judith filed for a separation from Edward [3] In her bill she says that she married Edward Robinson according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England and the laws and customs of the Country. She also says that she lived with him a long time in perfect peace and harmony and bore to him and raised many children. She asks for relief and separate maintenance or alimony.

Edward died 10 September 1781 in Cumberland County Virginia. The court ordered the appraisement of his estate 28 January 1782. [4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Edward by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Edward:

I have re proposed the merge.

Robertson-12288 and Robinson-1623 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same dates. This is the same man. The proper last name at birth was ROBINSON. Please merge in the direction of Robertson-12288 into Robinson-1623. The final profile ID should be Robinson-1623

I have reset the merge proposal as an unmerged match. Please re propose a merge of Robertson-12288 into Robinson-1623 in order to merge into the correct spelling of last name as Robinson.
Robertson--12288 should be merged into Robinson-1623. Please make sure the merge goin into the correct spelling of Robinson not the other way around.
Robinson-1623 and Robertson-12288 do not represent the same person because: The direction of the merge should be reversed. Robertson-12289 should be merged into Robinson-1623. Please change before merging.
The direction of this merge should be Robertson-12288 into ROBINSON-1623. Please make sure of the direction before merging.
Robinson-1623 and Robertson-12288 appear to represent the same person because: Edward Sr and Edward should be merged. Records exists as to last name confusion. Per father's will only one son Edward is shown.
