Biography

Sarah, daughter of John Rockwell (1621-1673), was probably born in Stamford, Connecticut.[1]. Note that Connecticut did not have any counties until 1665.

She married John Crampton, in Norwalk, Connecticut, 8 Oct 1676.[2] [3]

Savage tells us John Crampton married (second) Sarah Rockwell, October 8. 1676.[4][5]

Children of John Crampton and his second wife, Sarah Rockwell:

  1. Sarah, September 10, 1679;[5]
  2. Abigail, August 9, 1681:[5]
  3. John, January 7, 1682.[5]
  4. Samuel, Dec 25 1684[5]
  5. Joseph Crampton, birth not recorded but born about 1687. This the date used in the Connecticut Nutmegger article which assumes him to be the youngest son. However, it actually seems more likely that he was born in 1677 in the three year gap between his marriage and the birth of Sarah. He was certainly of age in 1709-1710 when he was making property transactions.[6]
