Biography

John Rogers was born April 3, 1642, probably in Duxbury, (then) Plymouth Colony, the son of Joseph and Hannah Rogers. His birth was recorded in Sandwich in 1651.[1]

He married at Eastham on August 19, 1669 Elizabeth Twining, the daughter of William Elizabeth (Deane) Twining.[2]

He made his will April 27, 1713 leaving land inherited from his father Joseph Rogers to his son John Rogers, Jr. He also named his sons Judah of Harwich, Joseph of Eastham, Eleazer of Harwich and Nathaniel; daughters Elizabeth, Mehitable and Hannah; and grandson John Rogers. His wife Elizabeth and son John were executors. Inventory of the estate was taken August 10, 1714 totalling £173, and the will was proved September 21, 1714.[3] His death date was not recorded in the Eastham town records, nor is a gravestone still standing.
