Lezley Rogers was baptised on 25th August 1850 at Semley, Wiltshire, England.[2]
Arrived in South Australia, aged 3, on the "Trafalgar", 28th June 1854 with his parents and three siblings. They departed England on 6 March that year. [3]
Lezley moved to Alma Plains in 1869 where he worked as a builder and well sinker. He returned to Sellicks Hill in 1886 and took up farming.
Lezley Rogers married the widow Emily Dunstan (nee Chenoweth) on 21st July 1886 at the Bible Christian Church, Willunga, South Australia,[4][5]
Lezley Rogers died on 9th September 1934 at a private hospital in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.[6][7]
Lezley Rogers was buried on 10th September 1934 at St. Ann's Cemetery, Aldinga, South Australia, [8] as advised in "The Advertiser" on Monday 10th September 1934.
Funeral Notices
"Rogers.—The Friends of the late Lezley Rogers are respectfully in formed that his Funeral will leave his former residence, "Pleasant Corner," near Sellick's Hill, on Monday Afternoon, the 10th September, at 2 o'clock, for St. Ann's Cemetery, Aldinga.
J. N. Crisp & Son. Undertakers. Aldinga."[9]
Research Notes
St Ann's burial register states that Lezley (spelt Leslie) and Leslie Rogers, his son, are both buried in Row F No 18. Bernice Roberts claimed that Lezley was buried in the plot next to Leslie, with his wife Emily. Emily's burial is not recorded on the register.
Age on passenger list should be 4, not 3, if date of birth is July 1849.
