Biography

Robert was born in 1808. According to Mrs. Ball's research, "Robert Rose and his wife, Mahala [or Mahalia] were living in Robertson County, Tenn in 1850 and were listed in the census in that county. In 1860, they were included in the census of Pike County, MIssouri. Robert Rose lived in Pike County, Missouri for about ten years before he died December 18,1960....before he died, he deeded land to his son, Jeremiah Rose, as follows: 'Robert Rose, and wife Mahalia [Mahala], grantors, or sellers, to Jeremiah Rose; Grantee or Buyer: both of Pike County, MIssouri. Selling price: $90.00 Land description: W1/2 of the SW 1/4, or section 15, township 53, range 5W containing 80 acres, in Ralls County.' " signed by James H. Mitchell, P. P. Filed for record December 12, 1856. He passed away in 1860.

Note: Mrs. Ball further notes: "In the Parker-Rose Cemetery, near Vandalia, there is a grave: Nelia Rose, died 7 month, 14 days. Since Robert Rose had a daughter, Nelia, I believe she is of this family. Jeremiah and Mary Ann Rose are buried in this cemetery. Is she their daughter??"
