René was baptized in 1688. He was born in December 1687, but was baptized 1/18/1688 (an unusually long gap for this time).[1] He was the son of Jacques Rousseau and Marguerite Guillebourg. He first married Marie-Ursule Fréchet on July 18, 1723, at Saint-Nicolas in modern-day Lévis, Québec. He later married Marie-Catherine Bordeleau on September 9, 1737, at Point-aux-Trembles in modern-day Neuville, Québec.[2]
