Biography

Origins

Sarah Rushing[1] was th daughter of Abraham Rushing and his wife Mariah Meador. She was named in her father's will.[2] Sarah was born about 1773 in Anson County, North Carolina.

Marriage and Children

Sarah married James English[3] before 1800. Sarah was named "Sarah English" in her father's will in 1805.[2] James English is the only English listed in the 1790 and 1800 US Census for Anson County, North Carolina (or neighboring countries for 1800). Sarah was not living in her father's household in 1800.

In 1800 James English and family were living in what appears to be either a multi-family or blended family household.[4]

On 31 May 1805, James English sold his property in Anson County.[5]

Research Note

There is a suggestion that Sarah married a Robert Swor, but with no indication of when or where, and no documentation.

Rushing-5803 and Rushing-82 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth, same spouse (in text of Rushing-5803), neither profile has documentation for death; Rushing-5803 lacks reliable documentation

Rushing-5450 and Rushing-82 appear to represent the same person because: Same mother (presumed same father since he and mother were married and she is name in father's will), same birth

Rushing-734 and Rushing-82 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents. Birth dates are similiar, with Rushing-734 probably more accurate, based on order of listing in father's will.

Sarah's date of birth (1784) is after her mother's (Mariah (Meador) Rushing) date of death. Could she be child of father's second wife?
