  • A possible grandchild by possible son Joseph Melvin Ryals may be Joseph Bernard Ryals and spouse (some say Magdalene, whom he married circa 1715) who had:

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Harris, Edward Doubleday. The New-England Royalls. 1885, p. 20. Boston, Massachusetts: David Clapp & Son. identifies this Joseph, born 13 May 1695, Dorchester (baptized 19 May), as the husband of Magdalen (Unknown), who died 24 Apr 1722, by whom one son was:
  1. Isaac Royall, 11 Jan 1721/2 in the Dorchester records, but having been born at Lewes Town in Pennsylvania, and who died 4 Apr 1734.

This Joseph is mentioned in the will of Joseph, merchant of Boston, who was his uncle who apparently died in 1728.

It is unknown if the other spouse and children can be substantiated by the records, but the Harris text appears to indicate no surviving issue, except that it is noted that Joseph is no longer in the records searched.

The marriage to Elizabeth that is shown, timewise, could well have been after Magdalen's death, which is recorded, as noted above, in 1722. The entries on FamilySearch do show two wives for Joseph, but the children also need to be reconciled.
