C Ryder is a France Project affiliate.

Ryder is the name I inherited from my father, who was an orphan, and adopted by the Ryder's. [1] I never wanted to change it.

My mother was given a last name at birth that didn't belong to anybody in the family. Until recently I thought my grandmother had named her after Samuel Clemens. Now that I've done research I know the truth.

Before I ever started research on the family tree, I knew very little about my cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, apart from one small branch of the family. Whenever a doctor would ask about my family medical history, I would wave a hand saying, "Oh no, in my family there is no history of ____________ (fill in the blank: heart disease, breast cancer, glaucoma...) whereas in fact I didn't have the slightest idea.

So discovering/ building a family tree is mind-blowing. It hasn't contributed much to my knowledge of family medical history. (In that area I'm not really looking for answers anyway.) Recently when the question came up, I said, "Well I only know one grandparent out of four. Can that be of any use? " You know what, in some cases, it can be useful.

But mostly doing this research is great for widening perspective.

Hi C,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.

  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

I wanted to thank you for a comment you made in the G2G about the relationship checker. I did not know about that or how to use it. (I have only been here about a week.)

Hi Connie,

Thanks for your note about the France project. If that suits you we can remove your badge for the time being and keep you in the google group so you'll continue to get updates. We also have a member affiliate sticker (which helps us "see" members who are interested but not yet ready to contribute), the code for this is two opening curled brackets Member|France Affiliate two closing curled brackets. Isabelle

Isabelle, I took off the France Project badge from my profile and put up a France Affiliate badge. Yes that would be fine to stay in the Google group, and be an "affiliate". Joyeux Noël, Connie

Hi Connie,

As part of a revitalization effort for the France Project, we are checking-in with members to see if they are planning to remain active in the project and where their interests lie.

If you are planning to remain active, please click here to submit a short Member Interest Form to help us organize and coordinate collaboration.

If you have other obligations at the moment and would like to be removed from the project at this time, you will always be welcome to rejoin if you find yourself with more time and interest later.

We thank you for your contributions and hope that you are enjoying exploring your roots.

Please respond by commenting on my profile or sending a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Isabelle

Bonjour!

Hi C L,

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-

1. Categories Team
2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team
5. Profile Improvement Team
6. Topics Team
7. Diaspora

? Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Maria

Hi C.L.

I noticed you chose our Integrators Challenge this month (May). Could you do us a favor and go here to sign up officially: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/821122/wikitreers-join-the-fun-join-the-integrators-challenge-2019

And if you can please add your question that you will be working on or the profile marked "needs profiles created" for the challenge. Thanks.

Note: Now a new challenge will come out later today, if you want to wait and sign up for the month of Jun!!

Got a question, see this page as well: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Integrators_Challenge

Also, you can put a sticker on your profile You can do so by adding the words Integrators Challenge with the {{ }} in front and back, in your biography.

Thank you and Good Luck!! Dorothy, Integrators Project Coordinator

Hi, Ms Ryder,

If you'd like to be Lorraine Hansberry's profile manager, you're more than welcome to take over. I'd develop her profile more, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to do her justice.

Please let me know and I'll add you to as a co-manager.

Thanks, Sarah Hanko-Carter
