John H Sanders was born on September 11, 1771, in Guilford, North Carolina to Quaker parents Joel & Mary. He had at least five children with Emma Hines. He died on October 10, 1856, in Indiana having lived a long life of 85 years, and was buried in Greene, Indiana.
