Biography

Joseph Saunders/Sanders was a Baptist minister. He was a member of Barton's Run Separate Baptist Church in 1815. The church was constituted in 1814 in Grayson County, Kentucky. The location of the church was probably near present-day Wax, Kentucky as Barton's Run is a short creek that enters into the Nolin River near Wax. Joseph served as a delegate for the Barton's Run Baptist Church in the year of 1815 to the South Kentucky Separate Baptist Association. Barton's Run Baptist Church withdrew shortly after that date from the South Kentucky Association and connected with the Nolin Separate Baptist Association, and Joseph Saunders served as a delegate to the Nolin Association in 1822. He died a few years later in Edmonson County in 1825. He recorded a will in Hart County, Kentucky a few years before his death, but unfortunately that record has been lost due to a fire at the Hart County, Kentucky Courthouse.
