DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
My GGGF was William Reed Sanders who was born August 4, 1836 and died June 8, 1926. He lived in Barren County. He married Malisie Lee and was the father of Allen Bradshaw "A.B." Sanders (my GGF). A.B.'s son was Vilas Reed Sanders (my GF). His son, my uncle, and the end of that direct line of that Sanders, was "Reed" Sanders. Family bibles have "Hansford" and "Allen" added to the given names of my uncle and the subject in question, William Reed Sanders.. Primarily my uncle is listed as Allen Reed Hansford Sanders or Hansford Reed Sanders in different bibles. It is the same person. Could it be possible that the birthdate of your William Reed Sanders has the day of birth in 1836 a few days off? Many of these Sanders are buried in the Houchins Cemetery in Edmonson County, Kentucky.
