"Gerrit Sanderson, of Tuyl, with 10 persons" appears in the "List of the Colonists and other free people who have entered to go to this city's Colonie in New Netherland" i.e. New Amstel, Delaware. The list itself is not dated but surrounding documents appear to be no later than 1662.[1]
Confirmatory land grant by Governor Lovelace to Gerrit Sanderson 25 March 1669 in Delaware, near New Castle.[2] Gerrit was already in occupation of the land, presumably before the British seized the colony in 1664. He later sold it to John Barentson, before 6 May 1680 when a re-survey was noted: "A Re-survey, made by Ephraim Herman, Surveyor, for John Barentson, according to a Patent from Governor Lovelace, of Land granted to Geritt Sanderson, and by him sold to the said John Barentson, lying on the West side of Delaware River above Newcastle, at a Place called Swanwick."[3]
