Biography

Sarah Catherine (Punch does not list her as Sarah Catherine) was born in Lunnenburg, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of John Certier and Catherine Vienot.

Sara and her husband appear in the marriage record of their child, Elizabeth Keddy.[1] They also appear in the death record for their son, Caleb Keddy.[2]

Research Notes

The information for her birth does not come from Punch as he does not list it, though he does state that she was "living in 1830". What is plausible is that this might be a record for one of the other Certier, Sertier or Sarty families in the area - more research needed.

Punch does list the children in order:

...
Catherine Regina Rachel, b. 1807
Catherine Lucy
Sarah (punch does not list her as Sarah Catherine)
Geroge Lewis, b. 1810
...

Going on this list we can estimate or infer the birthdates for Catherine Lucy and Sarah to between 1807 and 1810. If we take them in order, we can post 1808 and 1809 respectively.

For this Sarah to have lived to 100 years of age? If true then this is absolutely her profile. Still, more research needed to make sure that Kedy married this Sarah.

Certier is on p 62 - It says Certier Étienne (Sertier, Stephen) Lunenburg weaver from Montbeliard, Speedwell 1752 ae 18. d 1782. m. 26 Mar. 1769 Catherine, widow of Jean Patriquin? Ch. John. Isaac was born March 9, 1817 and baptized 1817-06-21 at the Dutch Reformed Lutheran Church (DRL noted above) in Lunenburg, the son of Alex & Rebecca. There was another Isaac born Feb 2, 1807, son of John Keddy and Catherine Zwicker, but he died in 1813.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Sarah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Sarah:

Keddy Family History The Scotsman and The English Lady III, page 24 lists her birth as the year only, 1817.
Hey Sherry,

Do you have anything on her birthdate? Her Fathers Death? As it stands she is born 16 years after her fathers' death?

Thanks,

Mags
