Biography

James Satterwhite b. 13 March 1801, Columbia Co., GA. d. Oct 1874 in Claiborne Parish, LA; m. (1) Sarah White or Wright in GA; he went back to Georgia to m. 7 Aug 1847 (2) Elizabeth Ann Sayer, b. 9 July 1826 in Columbia Co., GA, daughter of James Martin Sayer and Delaney Richards; family Bible says the wedding was in Greene Co. License issued Columbia Co. Probably his second marriage, (no proof). After James died Elizabeth Ann Sayer Satterwhite m. William Thornton Gresham. James’ first wife’s maiden name may have been ? White or Wright ?

He appears on the 1840 census in Columbia County, Georgia as head of household[1].
