By a deed dated March 25, 1623, a list of 30 persons (which included a Nicholas Parker and his son Thomas), who are described as "feoffees of lands the profits of which are expended on the persons in the Almhouse in Walden" [essentially trustees of a charitable trust for the poor], leased to William Savell of [Saffron] Walden, joiner, and wife Margaret, for 20 years at an annual rate of 20 shillings per year, a messuage in a street called Freshwell Hundred in [Saffron] Walden, abutting on the east a tenement in occupation of James Greaves, weaver, on the west a tenement in the occupation of Widow Campion, and on the south the land of John Wood.[14] (It should be noted that, as shown on the profile for William's father, his father Georve Savell had, in his lifetime, been one of the trustees of the lands for the Almhouse in Walden.)
William was buried at St. Mary the Virgin on February 3, 1638/9.[15]
