Biography

Elizabeth "Eliza" Sayers was born in Derbyshire, England 17 September 1793 to James and Euphemia Sayers. She was baptized at Brookside Chapel, Derby, 13 November 1793.

Joseph Goodwin Lightbourn, son of Paul Lightbourn, married Elizabeth "Eliza" Sayers sometime before 1811 - the date that their son James Paul Lightbourn was born in the Turks and Caicos. The couple had two daughters Mary Frederica Lightbourn and Euphemia Sayers Lightbourn.

Eliza Lightbourn's sister, Frederica Charlotte Sayers Livingston, lived with her husband in Poughkeepsie, New York, and that is where Eliza died in November 1821 at 28 years of age. Her death was reported in the New York Post: "Poughkeepsie, Sunday, Mrs Eliza Lightbourn, w. of Joseph, 28." She is buried in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
