Biography

Oliver Valdimere Schauer was the youngest of five children born to West Charles (Monday, February 23, 1835 - Sunday, August 13, 1909) and Rebecca Boody Schauer (1838 - Thursday, February 22, 1923). Oliver was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 18, 1879. His father was born in Germany and was a Civil War veteran who participated in the Battle of Gettysburg. His father's lifetime occupation was safe making.

Oliver was a salesman of lubricants in the Pittsburgh district (substation 6) for the Keystone Refinery Co. based in Philadelphia. His official title was lubrication engineer. Oliver Schauer was an excellent marksman and earned many Sharpshooter medals as part of his service with the National Guard.

On Wednesday, January 21, 1903, Oliver married Margaret Josephine McCormick at Beaver, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

KLINE COUPLE IN HOST ROLE

At least once a year, but we never hear much about it, Mr. and Mrs. Warren P. Kline (P for Peasure), feel the urgings of hospitality and decide to have a party. In this particular instance the guests are the office and sales force of the Keystone Lubricating Company, (Pittsburgh office) with which Mr. Kline is connected. The party, therefore, was held over Labor Day at the Kline country home, down the way, and it was a real party. "Forty dollars worth of food in the back seat," said "Kliney" on Saturday, but it looked more like four hundred - those Pittsburghers are good eaters. The guests were George Willis Hall, sales manager; Thomas Little, Oliver Schauer, Jack Langsdale, Mr. and Mrs. Philip KIng, and the Misses Paff, Baessler, and Jackson.
