Sadly, Peter died soon after arrival in Fond du Lac and she was widowed for many years. When Anna Maria Schneider was born on April 3, 1804, in Nachtsheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, her father, Nicholas, was 29, and her mother, Barbara, was 36. She had one son and one daughter with Peter Steffens between 1836 and 1841. She died on October 18, 1890, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, having lived a long life of 86 years, and was buried there.
