Thank you for responding so quickly. I had to find what I had to look for exact dates. As it turns out, it is not a marriage certificate but a Report of Divorce from Gage County, Nebraska. The datof marriage was November 9, 1940 in Marysville, Kansas. Mother Beatrice Bevens. Father Karl Shulz. (This is the spelling on th report.) She was living in Jantzen, Nebraska at the time of the divorce. My father, Charles Joseph Cochran was living in Arizona and in the army. Date of the divorce was August 28, 1942. She was asking for child support and it was grated for one child, My printer is down right now or I would send you an attachment of it. Anything you can find out would be helpful. The dates sound like this child would be in their early 70s if they are still alive. Can you find if she ever married and if she had other children? What was her married name? If you find out who the child is and it is okay, I would love to see a picture.

Mom wasn't much help. I've forwarded your message to two of my cousins - Jan Schulz and Terry (Schulz) Hill to see if they might be able to help. Terry and Gloria were very close as kids/teenagers, but as an adult Gloria moved away and never let anyone know where she was or how she was doing.

Mom didn't remember Aunt Ellen (we never called her Violet) and Cochran (she didn't think Charles was right, but it must have been - maybe he just went by a different name??) - anyway, she didn't think they had any children. But I'm thinking that can't be correct if this Ilene found a petition for child support. I'm wondering if one of the Melvin kids (Penny and Mike) - whichever is the oldest could maybe have been a Cochran?????

Mom and I did find Penny's last name - Barton and she was married to Gene. She and Mom use to keep in touch at least at Christmas, but Mom has not heard from her in years. The last address and phone number we have for Penny is Bellville, Kansas 913-527-5355.

I've made some spelling corrections in msg below, doubt that will help with anything, but ya never know.

I'll let you know if Jan and/or Terry can help with this.
