Maria Schusterschitz was born on 1 November 1795 in Kleinriegel #4, Gottschee, Krain, Austria (present-day Mali Rigelj, Dolenjske Toplice, Slovenia) to Martin Schusterschitz and Agnes.[1][2]
She started a relationship with Johann Tomschitsch of Reuter #10 (present-day Laze, Novo Mesto, Slovenia), who was probably living at Kleinriegel #3 at the time. There, on 22 June 1828, she gave birth to their son, Johann Schusterschitz.[3]
Maria died a few months after giving birth in Kleinriegel #4 on 14 September 1828 at the age of 32.[4]
