Biography
Giuseppe Sciortino is born around 1818 in Corleone, the son of Biagio Sciortino and Angela Pulizzi. He is named after his maternal grandfather.
In the 1834 Church census, Biagio Sciortino, 52 (b. 1781), wife Angela, 53 (b. 1780), and children Francesco, 19 (b. 1814), Leoluca, 17 (b. 1816), Giuseppe, 15 (b. 1818), and Lucia, 14 (b. 1819) live on the strada di San Michele Arcangelo.[1]
Giuseppe marries at least twice, first to Orsola Paternostro.
He remarries to Lucia Provensano (also spelled “Provenzano”), daughter of Baldassare Provensano and Antonia Saltaformaggio, on 10 April 1842.[2]
Lucia and Giuseppe have at least two children, Maria and Francesco Paolo.
Francesco Paolo marries Anna Provenzano on 24 September 1882. His parents have died by this time.[3]
